3 Reasons Why Washers Vibrate Excessively

While you expect your washer to move a little while it works, these movements shouldn't be major. If your washer starts to vibrate hard and fast during any part of its cycle, then the machine typically has a problem.

In some cases, you can fix this problem yourself. In others, you need help from a repair service. Read on to learn about some common vibration causes and how to deal with them.

1. Your Loads Are Uneven

Washers can vibrate if you don't load them evenly. If you put too much weight on one side of the machine's drum, then it might shake as it works. If it has to deal with the full weight of an unbalanced load moving in a cycle, then the drum is put under more pressure.

If you aren't loading your machine evenly, then you can stop it from vibrating by changing the way you load your clothes. If this problem has been going on for a while, then the machine might have some damage. For example, its drum might have lost its balance. You might need to have it realigned.

2. Your Machine Isn't Level

Washers need to stand flat. If the floor on which they stand isn't level, then the machine doesn't have a stable base. It will rock and move as it works. This can make it vibrate especially during a spin cycle.

Most washers now have adjustable feet. You can change the height of these feet to stabilize the machine so that it stands flat on even a bumpy surface. If you can't work out how to make these changes or don't have these feet, then a repair company should be able to help.

3. Your Washer Has A Damaged Part

Washers will vibrate if they have a damaged part. For example, machines have some internal shock absorbers which are there to reduce vibrations. If they get damaged, then they won't work, and your machine will start to vibrate.

Drum problems can also be at fault here. If a drum has come off its supports, isn't balanced, or has a broken seal, then it won't rotate smoothly and evenly. Its movements will become more erratic. They will make the machine vibrate.

If you can't fix your machine by changing the way you load it or by adjusting its feet, then contact washer repair companies. They can work out why your washer vibrates too much and fix the problem.
